Are you familiar with the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover ride inside of the Magic Kingdom? If you’ve ever been to the Magic Kingdom and ventured into Tomorrowland, you’ve probably seen it several times. Actually, if you’ve ever even glanced over at Tomorrowland from Main Street, USA, you’ve seen it. The PeopleMover is extremely hard to miss.
Have you ever ridden on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover ride? If not, then you are definitely missing out. The PeopleMover ride, while simple looking at first glance, offers so much more than what meets the eye. It has come to be one of my favorite rides in Tomorrowland and a must do on every trip. Here’s why…
Awesome Views of Cinderella’s Castle and Main Street USA
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is a continuously moving ride that spans the entire area of Tomorrowland inside the Magic Kingdom. It is a heightened ride, meaning it sits well above ground level. This gives you pretty awesome views of both Cinderella’s Castle and Main Street USA, in addition to it’s home of Tomorrowland.
As the trams move along the PeopleMover track they pass by several rides inside of Tomorrowland before bringing into view Cinderella’s Castle. It’s awesome to see the castle without hundreds of other guests blocking your view. Even more so, it is amazing to see the castle when you’re sitting on the PeopleMover and the sun is setting. If it’s a particularly awesome sunset and you are riding with your sweetheart, be sure to snuggle up. Instant little, mini-magical date in the Magic Kingdom!
Insiders Look at Space Mountain
As you ride along the track, the PeopleMover trams will bring you to the outside of Space Mountain. You are able to take in the building and dream of the rockets blasting off into space inside the dark ride. Then, you will turn a corner and shortly head in for a little behind the scenes of Space Mountain. If you’ve always wanted to ride Space Mountain, but were a little ‘scared’ or perhaps didn’t know if you could stomach the twists and turns, the PeopleMover gives you a little sneak preview of what to expect. You’ll move between Space Mountain’s Alpha and Omega tracks and get a glimpse at passengers about to take off into space. If you’re really lucky, the lights will be on inside of Space Mountain. During routine maintenance or if the rides has some ‘technical difficulties’ the lights will flash on and you’ll get to see what Space Mountain is all about!
Kick Your Feet Up and Relax
The absolute best thing about the PeopleMover? It’s gives you a much-needed chance to kick your feet up and relax! Relaxing, in Walt Disney World? Impossible you say! Seriously, it is possible and the PeopleMover can make it happen!
While at first thought, boarding a ride that is calm enough to let you relax might be a turn off. Trust me though, it will be so welcomed! As a tired parent dragging your kiddos around the Magic Kingdom, the PeopleMover is like a site for sore eyes. Or sore feet, if you will.
From the moment your tram ‘takes-off’ from Rockettower Plaza from the moment you return, the PeopleMover will take you on a ten minute round trip around Tomorrowland. This is enough time for you to snuggle with your little kiddos and get a little (and hard to find) relaxation in while you enjoy your time at the Magic Kingdom. Bonus: Due to the continuously moving trams, there is hardly ever a wait to enjoy the PeopleMover ride!
Enjoy a Nice Breeze
Florida’s heat can be smothering at times. You know that, I know that. It no secret! It can be hard to get cool while in the Magic Kingdom and the miniature personal fan you brought along only takes the edge off a little.
Enter the PeopleMover. It might be a little bit of a stretch, but as the PeopleMover trams move along, you’ll get a little bit of a breeze. Almost like a little built-in, natural air conditioning. It will be enough to help cool you down and make your 10 minute tour of the Magic Kingdom more enjoyable!
Next time you are in the Magic Kingdom, be sure to give the PeopleMover a chance and hop on board. Your kids will most likely enjoy the sights and sounds as much as you will. Be sure to hold on tight to your kiddos and enjoy your relaxing tour of Tomorrowland!
