Forky: Why do I have to be a toy?
Woody: You have to understand, how lucky you are to belong to a child.
Oh, Toy Story 4, are you going to be bringing on all the feels?
Lots of truth being spoken by Woody there though.
Want to know the best part?
A child doesn’t care what their toys looks like, whether they are brand new or broken in. I mean all kids like the new ‘shiny’ toy, but after a while, if you’re a favorite toy all that newness is forgotten.
Instead, it’s more about the memories being created and the adventures they can take with you, than anything on the outside. Kids don’t have time for that stuff, no, instead they are much too busy ‘living life’.
That’s how it should be, right?
Let’s start making more adventures and having fun, starting by creating a homemade DIY ‘Forky’ just like the brand new character from Toy Story 4. Isn’t it true that homemade is best? It just might be.
A super simple DIY craft that can be completed in less than an hour; let’s dive into making a DIY Homemade ‘Forky’!
The beauty of this project? Being able to make a DIY Toy Story ‘Forky’ uniquely your own. Your ‘Forky’ can look just like the one from Toy Story 4 or it can be something you made up.
I bet you can guess which path we took!
Soon we will be able to meet the real ‘Forky’ in Toy Story 4 when it comes out in theaters on June 21st from Disney!

Markers (Use with Caution with Littles)
Hot Glue Gun (Used with Adult Supervision)
1. Step One
Gather up all your supplies! The cool part about this project? You really don’t need to follow my above list at all. Well, except for the sporks. Those are kind of required.
Except, they really aren’t!! No, if you look closely at my pictures throughout this post you’ll see that I didn’t have any sporks on hand. Nor could I find sporks anywhere.
Not at Target or the Dollar Tree or any place in between.
Guess what? It probably isn’t that big of a deal, because I’m pretty sure my son forgot that ‘Forky’ was a spork in the first place. He probably thinks he’s actually a fork, because that’s in his name!!
Moral of the story, use what you have to make your creation!!
**Correction: If you really do want sporks, I found a large pack on Amazon. You can find them right here: SPORKS!
After you buy them, you might want to host a small party to use up your extras. Chili and salad anyone?
2. Step Two
The fun step!! Let your little one get creative.
Hand over the stickers, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, playdough, spoon/spork, and whatever else you have on hand. It’s time to decorate everything!
You can even add in other random things to allow your little one to add fun details to their new ‘friend’.
3. Step Three
Step 3 should be completed with adult supervision or assistance, just because hot glue guns can be dangerous for little fingers.
Grab out that hot glue gun and let it reach the proper temperature. In the meantime, take your googly eyes, feathers, and glitter (if you’re feeling brave) and figure out where you want to position everything on your spork (or spoon if you can’t find any sporks!)
Once the glue gun is hot, glue everything on (quickly!). Be sure to use the convex surface of the spoon to glue on your eyes. Let your spork take a few minutes to dry before you mess with any of the new additions.
Pro Tip
Use hot glue to fasten on ‘Forky’s’ feet. Glue the two popsicle sticks together and then glue the mound of playdough on top of the popsicle sticks. Next make an insert with the spork of where you want it positioned on top of the playdough. Remove the spork and add some hot glue into the insert. Then, quickly, reinsert the spork back into the playdough. Let the hot glue gun and add more if necessary, if the spork is not secure.
4. Step Four
Step back and enjoy the DIY Toy Story Forky that was just created! The best part about creating your own ‘Forky’, is the fact that there is no right or wrong way!! Now that you have your own DIY Toy Story Forky, I’m sure he is going to go with you everywhere.
