Best of the Halloween Rice Krispie Treats Variations: Mickey Mummies
6 C. Rice Krispies
10 oz Package of Marshmallows
3 Tbs Butter (We used vegan butter and it worked just fine!)
9 x 13″ Pan
Orange Popsicle Sticks
White Chocolate (We LOVE this kind!)
Waxed Paper
1. Step One
Gather up all your supplies for the best of the Halloween Rice Krispie Treats variations: Mickey Mummies!
We found the colored popsicle sticks at the Dollar Tree, but non-colored ones work great too. The orange color just adds to the Halloween Rice Krispie treat fun!
2. Step Two
Make the Rice Krispie Treats:
Coat 9 x 13″ pan with cooking spray.
Melt butter in a large pan over low heat. Once melted add in the marshmallows.
Stir until the marshmallows have melted. Remove from the burner and add in the Rice Krispies cereal.
Mix until well coated, but try not to smoosh all the cereal in the process. Pour the hot mixture into the 9 x 13″ pan and flatten it out with the back of a buttered spatula. Set aside to cool.
Once cooled, use your Mickey Mouse cookie cutter and cut out each individual Mickey-shaped rice Krispie treat. After cutting, immediately insert the popsicle stick into the bottom of the Rice Krispie treat.
Be sure to keep your hand on the Rice Krispie treat to keep the treat together and to ensure the popsicle stick isn’t going to shoot through the other side!
3. Step Three
The fun step! Time to decorate the Mickey Mouse 4th of July Rice Krispie treats! First, lay out wax paper and place Rice Krispie treats along with the wax paper. Second, pour the white chocolate into a wide, shallow microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the white chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring often.
Once the white chocolate is melted either 1) place the Rice Krispie treat face down into the bowl to cover with chocolate or 2) take a spoon and pour in the white chocolate to one side of the Rice Krispie treat.
The chocolate might be runny at first so lay the Rice Krispie treat flat once the chocolate is applied. Make sure to lay the treat chocolate side up.
4. Step Four
Add in your ‘mummy’ eyes!
With the white chocolate not yet dry, add in the mummy eyes. You can add two or several! These mummy rice Krispie treats are your creation!
Have fun with it!
5. Step Five
Take your leftover melted white chocolate from your bowl. If it isn’t melted anymore, pop it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds. Give it a stir and repeat as necessary until the chocolate is melted.
Then, take a spoon and scoop out the white chocolate, drizzling it on top of the Halloween Rice Krispie Treats. Create a criss-cross pattern to make it look like the bandages of a mummy.
6. Step Six
Let your creative Halloween Rice Krispie treats variation, in the form of a marshmallow mummy, cool. Once the chocolate is set and the ‘mummy’ eyes aren’t moving (aka sliding down the Halloween Rice Krispie, you’re good to go!

Common Rice Krispie Treat Questions:
Are (Kellogg’s) Rice Krispie Treats Gluten-Free?
Unfortunately, the name brand rice cereal of Kellogg’s Rice Krispie cereal is not gluten-free. The cereal contains a malt flavoring, which is derived from barley. Barley is not gluten-free, and, therefore, the cereal itself is not gluten-free.
Don’t give up hope though! If you make sure to purchase a rice cereal that specifies it is indeed gluten-free, you can make gluten-free Rice Krispie treats.
Alternatively, try creating gluten-free Cheerio Rice Krispie treats. Cheeries can easily be swapped out for the Rice Krispies in the above recipe. You might have to increase or decrease the amount of Cheerios included in the recipe, but overall Cheerios hold up nicely.
Cheerio ‘Rice’ Krispie treats make a nice alternative to your standard Rice Krispie treats. Bonus points if you make them into Mickey mummies!
How Do You Make Dairy-Free Rice Krispie Treats?
