Can you believe that Mickey Mouse recently had his 90th birthday? If you ask me, he looks pretty darn good for 90 years old. I think he has stumbled upon the fountain of youth and hasn’t shared his secrets with us. Perhaps it’s a top-secret of Disney? That, or being a cartoon is doing something for him. Either way, I hope I look that good when I’m in my 90s!
Mickey Mouse has been an icon for as long as I can remember (well, my whole life considering he is 90 and I am not!). He has made us laugh, brought families together in celebration and taken over my son’s bed in the form of stuffed animals. He has changed and molded with the times, but always stays true to himself and his style. Mickey represents the ability to forge forward when things get tough and is a symbol of the possibility of what could happen when you never stop chasing your dreams. Here’s to Mickey Mouse and the world of creation that opened up behind his ‘birth’.
If you’ve been to Schmoozies at Disneyland, you might have had the chance to enjoy Mickey’s Cookies ‘n’ Cream Milkshake. It’s a tasty cookies ‘n’ cream shake, topped with whipped cream, ’90’ sprinkles and two Oreo cookies. The rim of the cup is coated in red sanding sugar and has two yellow m & m’s for Mickey’s buttons. It’s a refreshing, but definitely sweet treat. I was a bit overloaded after having half of the shake.
90th Birthday Creation
In honor of his 90th birthday, a celebration that deserves to occur all year-long, Mr. D and I made a celebratory ‘crazy’ schmoozie here at home. However, instead of recreating Disney’s California Adventure birthday treat, we opted to create a slightly healthier option. We kept things simple, or classic, as that seems more appropriate when paying tribute to Mickey Mouse. Finally, we thought Mickey would appreciate a little pizzaz to cap off his smoothie, like the ’90’ sprinkles feature in the original smoothie.
Therefore, without further ado, here is the Mickey’s 90th Birthday Celebration Smoothie in all it’s fun birthday glory!
Mickey’s 90th Birthday Celebration Smoothie
Two Bananas (Frozen Preferred, Add in Ice Cubes if Bananas Not Frozen)
1-2 Whole Graham Crackers (Optional: Some Crushed)
Honey (About a Tablespoon, More or Less to Taste)
’90’ Sprinkles (Optional)
Whipped Cream (Optional)
1. Step One
Bring all your ingredients together. If you have extra time, be sure to freeze the bananas. This adds an extra layer of creaminess to the smoothie. If you don’t have extra time, you can sub in a few ice cubes along with unfrozen bananas. Alternatively, if you want to make the smoothie more like the milkshake, feel free to add in some ice cream right here!
2. Step Two
Add the (frozen) bananas, graham crackers, honey to a blender. Pour in enough almond milk to cover the ingredients. Blend away!
3. Step Three
Want the rim covered in crushed graham crackers, like the one pictured here? First, add a little frosting to the rim before you add your smoothie. Next, (over the sink) spoon on the crushed graham crackers. Not a necessary step, but definitely adds a little bit of flourish to Mickey Mouse’s birthday smoothie!
4. Step Four
Pour your delicious smoothie into a glass and enjoy! Add in some whipped cream and the 90 sprinkles and you’ve got yourself a celebration in a glass!
There ya go! Happy 90th birthday to the one and only Mickey Mouse! Looking forward to the next 90 years ol’ buddy!
